Before you start this process please understand that this is a journey. A long journey at times and one that will undoubtedly test your mental strength. Losing your teeth starts a ‘grieving’ process so to speak. Even if your teeth are in terrible condition and you can’t wait to have them removed, you are still losing something that has been a part of you for many many years. Essentially a body part.
Make sure you are mentally and emotionally stable enough to go through this before you start. For instance, if you’ve just had a major death in the family or you are going through a divorce, anything traumatic, I would caution you starting this process at this time.
Also, it is crucial to have a strong support person, someone you trust to help you through this journey.
If you are on social media, Facebook in particular, there are several dental support groups available for those that are getting dentures, implants, etc. I have my own dental support group Click Here that provides so much support and other valuable information.
Also, when you are going through something as extensive as having all of your teeth removed and restored (with either dentures or implants), you are most likely going to experience some bumps along the way. Some people may not, but then again some may experience a few and some a lot. This can be an absolutely mentally and emotionally draining process!!!!
Keep your journey expectations at a minimum, don’t compare your journey with anyone else’s, and rely on your support system whether that be online or personal.
You CAN DO THIS!
